The sixth studio album by Genesis, released in 1974, was their last recorded with Peter Gabriel as lead singer. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a concept album centering around he journey of Rael, a Puerto Rican youngster living in New York City.

The album peaked at No. 10 on the U.K. Album Chart and No. 41 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album produced two singles in the U.K., "Counting Out Time" and "The Carpet Crawlers." The title track was released as a single in the U.S.
